Chris is good on the US, but totally wrong about China (and Vietnam, etc.) – there, he knows nothing but his brainwashed soundbites. Why is a factory a ‘sweatshop’ when it’s not in the US? No consideration for cost of living, free meals and and accommodation in those ‘sweatshops’ etc. In this area, Chris just talks nonsense, in-line with those he supposedly opposes, and comes over as ludicrous in being so dogmatic about areas he clearly knows nothing about. Otherwise, great.
This year, poverty in China reduced to about zero. Hard work and good governance has seen the greatest improvement in ordinary people’s lives ever. That’s why it is dehumanised Chris – why you can’t see such an obvious fact ???
The US has a bigger military than the rest of world combined; China has more high speed rail than the rest of the world combined. China has the most international tourists, the most international students, and I cold go on and on. Facts beat fantasy.
Is this some kind of them and us bigotry, cold-war indoctrination hangover, or what ?
Western style democracy is but a smokescreen in which the elite run everything and participation by a rare ‘vote’ is just an illusion of participation – but does make one complicit. It is a token (the ‘vote’) democracy only.
No one person will get it all right; half-right is about all one can expect of the best thinkers. They all fossilize too soon. Keeping one’s eyes and mind open is the way to go; don’t follow anyone.
One of the main things that Chris has got wrong is falling in-line with promoting the ‘climate change’ / global warming’ / ‘end of the world is nigh’ agenda, which is clearly really about austerity for the masses and their reduction in the age of robots so that the elite can inherit the earth, as they have always tried to do. More fool you, Chris. Not to say that we do need to curb environmental degradation, but this fantasy hype, pushed by the elites and their MSM and uni lap-dogs, has an ulterior motive. As a scholar, you should be able to see right through it …
