This temple in south China is actually new; it was opened in 1988 to commemorate two thousand years of Buddhism in China. NanShan Temple has a total area of 40,000 square meters and contains several Tang dynasty replicas. It is located 40 kilometers west of SanYa city. Nearby lies the GuanYin of the South Sea of SanYa 南山海上观音圣像, a 108-meter (354 foot) statue of GuanYin.

A wonderful performance just 2 kilometers along the Li River from YangShuo. The show incorporates local traditions, and around 600 performers combine with the beautiful setting to poetically elucidate the harmony of people and nature.

Sometimes in browsing the web disparate things just seem to come together, as here. Two different popular singing shows, one an established artist, one a teen on a first audition; one common theme - 'this girl is on fire'. In the first video, from 'I am a singer', I was so struck by the gusto of the performance. The cut-aways are to the other competitors; one can feel that the knives were out (in some cases) but she said 'take that', and nailed it .
