The YangTse (YangZi) is the longest river in Asia, and the third-longest in the world.
The YangTse River flows for almost 6,500 kilometers (4,000 miles) from the glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau in QingHai province eastward across southwest, central and eastern China before emptying into the East China Sea at Shanghai.
The YangTse River is also one of the world's largest rivers by water volume; it drains one-fifth of China's land area and its river basin is home to one-third of China's population. Along with the Yellow River, the YangTse plays a significant role in the history, culture and economy of China.

The beauty of ChongMing Island
ChongMing Island is a 1,000 square kilometer island near ShangHai.
The island was formed by alluvial deposits in the YangTse river delta. It is connected to Shanghai by a tunnel and a bridge, about 25km in length. One can also take a boat.
The peaceful island retains the charms of old Shanghai and is also noted for its wetlands and forests.
