PinYin - English : pronunciation.

Nǐ Hǎo - Hello / Hi (literally, you good? / how are you?) : nee how

Zài Jiàn - Goodbye / bye : z~eye jee~ann

XièXiè - : Thanks : she~air she~air (second is a little softer/quieter)

XièXiè Nǐ ! - Thank you! : she~air she~air nee!

BúKèQì - You're welcome : boo ker chee

Qǐng - Please : ching

Mei / MeiHǎo - Beautiful : may

Place Names in Chinese (Pin-Yin)

Useful Chinese words (in pinyin) frequently used to form place names.


Note, however, that Chinese words can have multiple meanings depending on pronunciation (the 4 tones). Although the four tones can be indicated through the use of accents in Pin-Yin, these are not commonly seen.
