DescriptionThe modern Peking Opera Taking Mount Tiger by Strategy, one of the eight revolutionary model operas, was adapted from a story in Qu Bo's novel of Tracks in the Snowy Forest. Since the summer of 1958, when it was first created and performed by Shanghai Peking Opera Troupe, thousands of sessions have been presented up to now. It has thus become a lasting red classic. The splendid hero Yang Zirong in the opera has been told from mouth to mouth through generations, and his unique tunes have been sung very often until now. The reconnaissance platoon head Yang Zirong is straightforward and determined, while the chief of staff Shao Jianbo is wise and resourceful. These two heroes in the opera complement each other. Characteristic figures, fascinating plot and powerful landscapes give the opera a splendid beauty of power. The artistic forms of Taking Mount Tiger by Strategy include the Chinese traditional Peking Opera as well as ballet and symphony from the west. Even from a contemporary point of view, it is still one of the very few classic art works that presents a fashion charm with both Chinese and western traits. Venue![]()
